Falling into Fall

This will be our third fall in North Carolina. Every year, at this time, right before Halloween, all the leaves seem to change seamlessly over night, the skies take on a gray haze, and a crisp chill is in the year. This week, which I fondly refer to as Halloween week, may be my favorite week of the holiday season. It's not crazy with the hustle and bustle before Christmas, there's no traveling involved, no elaborate dishes to prepare. Instead, we are able to kick back and welcome the holidays, with creepy Halloween movies, lots and lots of candy, cute costumes, and pumpkins.

Of course, we can't forget about reaching into your closet for boots, scarves, and hats. Lightweight sweaters have been pushed to the front of my closet, tall boots are waiting to be worn, and my deep bin of scarves has tumbled over and out. Fall means transitioning to warmer, cozier pieces. My favorite blanket scarf is ready, fluffy slippers are now on my feet. Don't get me started on socks...I've got quite the collection!

I have a hair appointment to chop off some length (postpartum hair loss, anyone? When does it stoppp..) and add some bronze, caramel highlights. I already have pretty dark hair, so instead of going even darker, I'd like to brighten up a bit for fall. It's been a long time since I've had any color in my hair. Years, in fact. I'm ready for a change! If you're thinking of ushering in the fall season with a hair change too, Madison Reed, a hair company in San Francisco, has an awesome quiz you can take for inspiration. Will you go darker for fall?

I can't wait for the rest of this week- we've got a costume playdate and pumpkin party, a Halloween parade and party at school, and of course, the big night, HALLOWEEN. Miss A assigned the four of us our costumes and the final accessory for mine arrived today. Here's a hint- we are all superheroes. Our first Halloween as a family of four, all dressed up. I hope the pictures turn out well!
